Deception Complex Update

Oregon Interagency Incident Management Team 4 is managing the Deception Complex which encompasses approximately 93 fires on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. The Middle Fork Ranger District has had five lighting storms starting fires since early July with the most recent on August 10, 2014.

Warner Lookout and the aerial patrol located three new fires on Friday.  All three fires are under 0.25 acre. Rappellers responded to the one located in the far north end of the Waldo Lake Wilderness. The other two fires are located near Mt. Fiji and about a mile from Indigo Springs Campground. All three fires have been lined.

Helicopters are continuing to keep the fires in the Deception Creek area cooled down with water drops. Crews are installing fire hose to provide water along the indirect fire line and are continuing to establish additional backup lines.

Temperatures will be increasing and relative humidity (amount of moisture in the air) will be decreasing this weekend.  The fires are expected to be more active today.
